Dr. Ekbal is also an active member of the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad from 1973 onwards. He served as the President of the organisation from1983 to 1985. He is also associated with national and international organisations like International People's Health Council Nicaragua,Consumers International (Malaysia), Health Action International (Netherlands). Dr Ekbal has also participated in prominent national and international conferences.
